Inspired by Steve Pavlina’s How to Be a Man post, I’m following up with my own take, as a woman, and as a philosopher of everything that is mind and body and heart. The following suggestions are based on the AQAL Spiral Growth theory and the Hierarchy of Needs, naturally.
How to be a healthy woman
…and a healthy human, and a healthy living being, too…
1. You may be stuck with the body you were born with, but you can make the body you do have (including it’s brain and all the gorgeous intellectual and emotional bits inside) as beautiful and strong and healthy as possible. – Put good stuff into your body, mind, and heart and be curious about what kinds of energy make you feel balanced, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Seek out warmth, clean air, clean water, whole natural food, interesting and calming sensory stimulation – good things to see, hear, taste, smell, and touch – and plenty of movement and rest, to keep your body, mind, and heart in peak condition so that you have a good solid grounding for all of the delicious and amusing adventures you are going to have in your life.
2. Respect yourself, and others will take the hint. – Have the freedom to be yourself. Know deep down in your heart that you can always choose to do what is important to you, and understand that you always know what is best when it comes to taking excellent care of yourself, and act on this wisdom as often as the opportunity presents itself to do so.
3. Mr. Rogers wants to know if you’ll be his neighbor… – Have a healthy community, or two… Choose to live, work, and study in environments that are physically, emotionally, and intellectually supportive of you and your hopes and dreams, and which inspire you to participate on a variety of levels, and which make you feel welcome.
4. Use your superpowers for good! – Be an effective and compassionate leader. You are a role model to so many around you, whether you realize it or not, and people often look up to you when they need someone to help make their world better, so you can use all your wisdom and skills to work with others collaboratively and nurturingly as you direct everyone towards more good, true, and beautiful things for the world.
5. You are a part of a well oiled machine. The question is, what kind of machine is it, and what part are you? – Take a good look at who you are and what you can do, and what your greater purpose is in this world.
6. Hey! You’re shiny! – Think for yourself and strike out on your own sometimes, because you are unique and have all kinds of interesting things to say and do.
7. When in Rome… – Get out once in a while, and see new places, new people, and new things. Explore your world, as they say.
8. No more wire hangers! – Be a creative leader who’s not afraid to tackle the challenging issues. When people look to you for ideas and solutions, gather all your wisdom and play with it until you discover something new you can do for your world.
And a few more for the especially advanced woman, human, or other living being…
9. Have Personal Wisdom – Gaze at your own navel periodically.
10. Be Personal Peace – Be extra nice to yourself, you’re the only you you’ve got.
11. Have Universal Wisdom – Gaze at the Universe’s navel, too, occasionally.
12. Be Universal Peace – Be extra nice to the Universe, it’s the only universe you’ve got!
